You will follow work orders, inspect items, and complete shipping documentation using ProTrans specs and a mobile scanner.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, English literacy, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED; or 6 months related experience or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
  • English reading and writing required; bilingual English/Spanish desired.
  • Must pass Protrans Forklift Performance Test

Responsibilities

  • Read work orders or instructions to identify materials.
  • Receive items, inspect for identity, quantity, and condition.
  • Open containers as directed by instructions.
  • Load/unload materials using forklift or manual handling.
  • Load materials into carrier vehicles and secure loads.
  • Complete receiving and shipping documents per ProTrans specs.
  • Complete receiving/shipping activities with use of mobile scanner
  • Identify shipments by proper marking and labeling.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform safety checks.
  • Operate banding, taping, sealing machinery.
  • Follow safety procedures and contribute to safety improvements.

Job description

The Forklift Material Handler loads, unloads and moves materials within or near center, cross dock, trailers, yard, or work site by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

included the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Receives items for shipment, inspects visually for identity, quantity, and condition. Checks for obvious damage and segregates items requiring special handling.
  • Opens containers as directed by work instructions or supervisor.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves by hand or with forklift or other handling equipment.
  • Loads materials into carrier vehicles and installs loading tools to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Completes receiving and shipping documents accurately and completely via ProTrans specifications.
  • Completes receiving and shipping activities with use of mobile scanner
  • Identify all shipments by proper marking and labeling, including special handling instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Conduct safety and equipment checks daily.
  • Operates machinery such as banding, taping, and sealing.
  • Follow all safety procedures. Actively works to improve individual and center safety record.
  • Provides ideas or feedback to identify continual improvement initiatives to enhance the performance of the position, team, and company.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and write in English is required. Bilingual English/Spanish is desired in some centers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Able to use scanning equipment.

Must pass the Protrans Forklift Performance Test
