Responsibilities:

Our Material Handling Group is currently looking for a full-time Forklift Field Service Technician for our Sterling Heights, MI branch. This position is first shift, M-F, and hourly (no flat rate!). Field Technicians are provided a company service van, which can be driven home, along with a fuel card. The primary responsibilities include:

• Performing preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Diagnosing and repairing all forms of customer equipment
• Completing repairs in a timely, efficient, and professional manner
• Providing exceptional customer service
• Managing workloads independently
• Proper completion and submission of all required paperwork
• Managing company vehicle and on-board parts inventory
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned
• Maintaining consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality

Qualifications:

• Two years of forklift repair experience preferred, including military, Guard, or Reserve service with MOS or NEC codes such as 63B, 63H, 63S, etc.
• Previous field experience is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical aptitude
• Own tools required
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Experience with HYPASS, Hyster TKC software, and Yale/Hyster systems
• Intermediate reading, writing, and speaking skills
• Basic math skills and reasoning ability

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Regularly standing, walking, using hands; occasionally sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
• No special vision requirements
• Lifting up to 10 lbs regularly; 11-25 lbs frequently; 26-100+ lbs occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, outdoor weather, and other environmental conditions
