Job summary

UNFI is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of facilities, equipment, and company vehicles. The role covers troubleshooting, preventive maintenance scheduling, and maintaining spare parts inventories to support uninterrupted production.

Responsibilities include repair of conveyor systems, forklifts, battery changes, and adherence to HACCP/SQF policies. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently are essential for success in

Qualifications

• Refrigeration certification required.
• Certified Materials Handling Engineer Mechanic.
• ASE certification.
• Able to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Understanding of production functions.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude and safety awareness.
• Ability to work independently with good organization.
• Basic computer skills; proficient with hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair complex machinery (conveyor systems, scanners, shrink wrap, etc.).
• Repair and maintain PIT forklifts.
• Change batteries and perform battery swaps.
• Recommend repair or replacement of faulty equipment.
• Prioritize repairs to minimize production downtime.
• Conduct regular facilities inspections and preventive maintenance planning.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and assist production scheduling.
• Communicate repair status and coordinate with teams.
• Keep area clean, secure, and compliant with HACCP/SQF policies.
