Job summary

UNFI is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our distribution operations running smoothly. You will repair and maintain complex material handling equipment, install RF units and scan guns, and help develop preventive maintenance plans to prevent breakdowns.

The role requires 2–3 years of maintenance experience and a certification as a Material Handling Engineer Mechanic. Schedule is M-F with two shifts, and compensation reflects the hourly rate stated in the posting.

Qualifications

• Oral and written communication skills to read and interpret documents; must write routine reports.
• Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of concrete variables with limited standardization.
• Clearly communicate with employees, supervisors, and outside contractors.
• Excellent mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work well independently.

Responsibilities

• Prompt repair and ongoing maintenance of complex material handling equipment.
• Provide recommendations to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment and help develop a preventive maintenance schedule.
• Prioritize repairs to maintain uninterrupted production.
• Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and materials.
• Report major concerns to management and oversee others as needed.
• Install RF units and scan guns; perform battery changer repairs.
• Handle complex diagnostics including electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems.
