Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Tooling Engineer to join the Howmet Wheel Systems (HWS) business unit. You will monitor die health, coordinate tooling readiness on-site, and support forging operations to ensure active and upcoming jobs have the necessary dies and tooling.

The role requires a technical degree and hands-on experience with tooling, die repair, CAD and shop-floor problem solving. Occasional travel is expected to support regional tooling activities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Material Science Engineering or Electrical Engineering or other suitable technical education.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong organizational and computer skills, particularly Excel.
• 2 years of administrative experience including planning, scheduling and coordination.
• Strong technical background in mechanical or engineering disciplines; tooling experience with metals.
• CAD experience and ability to read technical drawings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Monitor hit count to ensure dies are restored at proper intervals.
• Review forging quality and tooling health daily on the shop floor.
• Support die and tooling readiness on-site in CLE with necessary dies and tooling.
• Respond to and investigate tooling failures and implement preventative actions.
• Implement and track cost savings initiatives.
• Work to optimize die setups and changeovers.
• Supply data & drawings for vendors.
• Obtain quotes and award work based on cost and timing.
