Precision Castparts Corp. seeks a Forging Engineer Intern to support manufacturing engineering and forging operations with hands-on involvement in process improvement, project tracking, production reporting, and engineering analysis.

The intern will work with engineering, production, and operations personnel to evaluate forging processes and analyze data. Frontline exposure to ERP/MRP systems and Excel-based reporting, with opportunities to contribute to productivity, quality, and cost

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong technical aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes.
• Prior internship or project experience is a plus but not required.
• Flexibility to balance academics with internship commitments.

Position Summary

We are seeking to fill this position immediately and are looking for a candidate who can work throughout the academic school year. This is not intended to be a short-term or temporary internship. Interns may remain in the position as long as they are actively enrolled in school, continue to meet performance expectations, and maintain the availability required for the role. Candidates should be available to work 16-20 per week; however, schedules are flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate class schedules, exams, and other academic commitments.

The Forging Engineer Intern will support manufacturing engineering and forging operations through hands-on involvement in process improvement initiatives, project tracking, production reporting, and engineering analysis. This position provides students with practical exposure to aerospace forging operations, manufacturing systems, and continuous improvement methodologies. The intern will work closely with engineering, production, and operations personnel to evaluate forging processes, analyze production data, and support projects focused on improving productivity, efficiency, quality, and cost performance.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Manufacturing Operations Support

• Learn and gain exposure to aerospace forging processes and production flow.


• Assist with production tracking activities and manufacturing documentation.


• Attend production meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.


• Support engineering and operational projects as assigned.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Assist with entering and maintaining data within ERP/MRP systems.


• Run and analyze daily production reports to support scheduling and operational decision-making.


• Track project performance and evaluate the success of improvement initiatives.


• Utilize Excel and other reporting tools to organize, analyze, and interpret manufacturing data.

Continuous Improvement Projects

• Participate in projects focused on improving productivity and reducing variable costs.


• Identify opportunities for process enhancements and operational efficiencies.


• Support implementation and follow-up activities associated with continuous improvement efforts.


• Assist with documenting project results and business impacts.

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.


• Must have completed at least the second year of an accredited engineering program.
