Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. is seeking a Forge Helper to support forging operations, material handling, and equipment preparation in a fast-paced production environment.

You will assist with dies, tooling, and furnace controls while developing knowledge of forging processes. Maintain clean spaces and follow safety practices to ensure efficient production flow.

Previous manufacturing or forging experience is preferred; HS diploma or GED is required, and forklift certification is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior manufacturing, forging, or production experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification or forklift experience highly preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude with industrial equipment is beneficial.
  • Willingness to learn forging operations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support forging operations and assist press and hammer crews.
  • Prepare dies, tooling, and equipment for forging operations.
  • Sweep dies, lubricate tooling, and perform scale blowing as required.
  • Operate furnace controls and set up forging tools.
  • Read shop travelers and follow production instructions.
  • Maintain clean work areas and comply with safety policies.

Job description

The Forge Helper assists production personnel engaged in the fabrication of forged products by supporting forging operations, material movement, equipment preparation, and general production activities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, efficient, and productive forging operations while developing knowledge of forging processes, equipment, and materials.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Forging Operations Support
  • Support press and hammer crews during forging operations and understand the responsibilities and relationships of crew members throughout the forging process.
  • Assist with preparation of dies, tooling, and equipment required for forging operations.
  • Sweep dies, clean and lubricate tooling, and perform scale blowing activities as required.
  • Operate furnace controls, including doors, hearths, and furnace cars in accordance with training and established procedures.
  • Set up and utilize impression stamps and associated forging tools.
Production & Material Handling
  • Read and follow shop travelers, work instructions, operating procedures, and daily production reports.
  • Develop a working knowledge of forging materials, forging practices, and production requirements.
  • Safely operate floor manipulators and other production equipment following completion of required training.
  • Assist in maintaining continuous production flow while minimizing downtime and production delays.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Maintain clean work areas, machines, tools, equipment, and production spaces.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Utilize required personal protective equipment and comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of plant operations.
Required Skills
  • Ability to safely work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand production documents, operating procedures, and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Experience operating a two-way radio communication system.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn forging operations.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Forklift operation experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Experience & Education
  • High school diploma, GED, or Technical College education required.
  • Previous manufacturing, forging, industrial, foundry, or production experience preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience operating industrial equipment are beneficial.
  • Forklift certification and/or prior forklift operating experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and or forging industry is preferred.
