Job summary

Dauch Corporation, headquartered in Detroit, MI, seeks a Forge Tooling Engineer to lead tool optimization, support production needs, and share best practices across multiple plants. You will maintain tooling records, manage tool life, and coordinate with suppliers on new technologies.

The role requires traveling to various sites, mentoring tooling and manufacturing engineers, and applying Forge Press tooling knowledge to improve efficiency and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years forge tool room experience or tool manufacturing experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of Forge Tools and manufacturing processes.
• Proven track record to manage and complete large projects.
• Ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate comprehensive management of site tooling in alignment with Dauch Tooling System standards and promote cross-functional cooperation.
• Identify and support Continuous Improvement activities for Quality (Scrap reduction) and Cost (CPU).
• Maintain Technical Tooling documentation, Tooling Drawings and Tool Layouts (AutoCAD or similar).
• Support plant tool manufacturing operations to ensure accuracy, organization, and best practices.
• Coordinate with preferred Tool Steel Suppliers to identify best practices and new technologies.
• Support tooling inventory, tool reconditioning, and scrap tooling processes.
• Use problem solving techniques to resolve machining issues.
• Quote cost per unit of new jobs based on tooling selection and expected tool life.
• Teach and mentor tooling and manufacturing engineers at the plant level.
• Interact with plant tool rooms to support forge tool manufacturing processes.
