Job Title: CDL Driver

Reports To: Senior Project Manager

Job Overview :

CDL Class A driver to haul finished cold-formed steel (CFS) exterior wall panels from our fabrication shop to active jobsites. The driver owns each load from securement at the shop to a safe, on-time handoff to the install crew.

KPIs

  • Successfully hauling cargo, avoiding at-fault accidents
  • Timely delivery of cargo within known, predictable delays

Duties:

1. Pre-trip and post-trip

  • Inspect tractor, trailer and securement gear; complete the DVIR and report defects before leaving the yard.

2. Loading and securement

  • Check the panel load list against the panels loaded, by panel ID and delivery sequence.
  • Direct the loading crew so panels sit in install order, on dunnage, with weight balanced across the axles.
  • Secure every load to FMCSA cargo securement rules and FORGE's standards; tarp when needed.

3. Driving

  • Drive safely and defensively on local, regional and occasional overnight routes.
  • Plan routes around bridge heights, weight limits and permit restrictions; re-check straps within the first 50 miles and at every stop.
  • Keep accurate hours-of-service logs on the ELD.
  • Arrive inside the scheduled crane window; check in with the site superintendent or install lead.
  • Stage the truck where the crane or forklift operator directs; release straps only when told it is safe.
  • Stay clear of suspended loads; help the crew with tag lines only when trained and assigned.
  • Get the delivery ticket signed and photograph the load before and after unloading.

5. Communication and records

  • Tell dispatch about delays, damage, near misses or site problems right away.
  • Turn in bills of lading, delivery tickets, fuel receipts and inspection reports daily.
  • Keep the truck clean, fueled and organized; return racks, dunnage and straps to the shop.
