Job summary

Obsolete Site at Fort Benning, GA seeks a Forestry Technician to implement and manage wildland fire operations, including prescribed burning and wildfire suppression, and to oversee the timber marking program.

You will coordinate with the Planning Section on timber sales, reforestation, and silviculture treatments, assist wildlife and ecosystem management efforts, and operate vehicles up to 2,000 GVW. A one-year probation and stringent safety standards apply.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-08 in natural resources management.
• Experience with timber marking, forest inventory, and reforestation.
• Knowledge of wildfire suppression and prescribed burning.

Responsibilities

• Implement and manage wildland fire operations, including prescribed burning and suppression.
• Oversee the timber marking program and coordinate with planning on timber sales.
• Assist wildlife and ecosystem management activities.
• Operate a vehicle up to 2,000 GVW.
