Job summary

Ayuda Companies is seeking a field technician to support forestry, wildlife management, and Endangered Species Act compliance at Fort Jackson assignments. Duties include timber marking, prescribed fire prep and burn execution, timber inventory data management, and wildlife surveys in dense vegetation and challenging weather, with a need for strong physical stamina.

Candidate should be comfortable working independently or in a team, with experience using GPS units and field equipment.

Qualifications

• College degree in Forestry or related discipline.
• Experience marking and cruising timber.
• Ability to work in challenging field conditions and extreme weather.
• Comfortable working independently and with others.
• Experience with ATVs and off-road vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

• Mark annual timber harvests and paint boundaries; collect GPS data for harvest maps.
• Prepare burn areas and equipment; assist ignition and mop-up of prescribed fire; complete post-burn evaluations.
• Perform pre- and post-timber harvest inventories; manage data in inventory software on desktop and mobile.
• Assist with wildlife management, including habitat prep and surveying wildlife (RCW clusters, migratory birds).
