Job summary

The South Carolina Forestry Commission is offering eight State Forest Internship positions for summer 2027. Interns will participate in forest management tasks such as timber cruising, timber marking, and inventory cruising, and assist with sale preparation and boundary marking.

Locations include Harbison State Forest, Manchester State Forest, Sand Hills State Forest, Niederhof Forestry Center, and Wee Tee State Forest with eight total openings.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and experience in forestry management or relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with forest management activities including timber cruising, timber marking, and inventory cruising.
• Assist with forest product sale preparation including establishing sale boundaries, timber sales, and pine straw sales.
• Assist with marking of general property boundary lines.
• Operate light and medium equipment to maintain state forest grounds.
