Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry is seeking a Forestry position to perform fire prevention and wildfire suppression duties in Vernon Parish. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a current Louisiana driver’s license.

You will support forest management activities, help with data collection on fires, and participate in education programs. Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, reporting, and collaboration with crew leaders.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Make reports of forest fires including location and acres involved.
• Assist Forestry Crew Specialist Leader in forest management activities (cruising, detecting, controlling pests).
• Participate in Information & Education programs related to forestry fields.
• Monitor and/or repair transport trucks, dozer tractors, and fire suppression equipment; maintain tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
