Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry, Office of Forestry in Natchitoches Parish, seeks a Forestry Crew Specialist to manage fire prevention and suppression in Louisiana's forestlands. The role involves reporting forest fires, assisting with forest management activities, and participating in Information & Education programs.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a Louisiana driver's license; CDL is encouraged with a one-year path to obtain it.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Louisiana driver's license.
• CDL encouraged to apply; may obtain CDL within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reports of forest fires including location and acres affected.
• Assist the Forestry Crew Specialist Leader in cruising, detecting, and controlling forest pests and diseases.
• Participate in Information & Education programs related to forestry.
• Monitor and repair transport trucks, dozer tractors, fire suppression equipment, and hand/power tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
