Job summary

The North Carolina Forest Service is seeking a Forestry Supervisor I to manage district forest programs, budgets, and personnel. This role supports forest management, water quality initiatives, GIS programs, and fire protection across NC.

Responsibilities include directing field operations, training staff, and coordinating with incident command teams during emergencies, with travel as needed. Telework may be available at management's discretion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry from SAF-accredited program with four years of related forestry experience.
• Forester registration with NC Board or equivalent and four years post-registration forestry experience.
• Ability to lead, train others, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Manage district Forest Management, Water Quality, GIS programs, and cost-share initiatives.
• Coordinate and supervise District’s Remote Access Weather Stations and fire rating programs.
• Handle personnel hiring, performance management, and Forestation budget.
• Respond to wildland fires and all-risk incidents within the ICS.
