Job summary

State of North Carolina - Agriculture & Consumer Services' NC Forest Service seeks a Forestry Technician I (S) in Rose Hill, NC. The role supports landowner forestry requests, promotes tree care in communities, and delivers forestry education through schools and partner groups.

Work hours typically 8–5, with after-hours readiness during fire danger and emergencies; occasional overnight travel. Applicants require an Associate's degree in forestry or a related field, or a high school/GED with two

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in forest management or environmental or natural science, or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma or GED with two years related forestry experience.
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with servicing landowner requests for forestry assistance.
  • Assist with programs to promote the importance of trees and tree care.
  • Provide and promote forestry education through interactions with partners, schools, civic groups and 4-H.
  • Promote protection of the State's natural resources through wildfire planning.
  • Respond during emergencies such as wildland fires and natural disasters.
