Job summary

Qualifications

Associate degree in a Forest Technology program recognized by the Society of American Foresters OR a Bachelor's degree in a forestry program accredited by the Society of American Foresters.
One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the field of forestry.

Responsibilities

Manage forest operations in Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson Counties.
Oversee fire prevention, preparedness, and suppression activities and communicate prevention messages to media, groups, schools, and individuals.
Recruit, train, and check equipping of forest fire wardens, patrollers, and firefighters; supervise suppression efforts.
Conduct spot checks and investigations on logging operations; assist logger training and logger compliance with the Logging Sediment Control Act.
Provide technical assistance to landowners; develop stewardship plans; review insect and disease reports.
Coordinate with other agencies and employees; perform other duties as required.
