Job Description

BASIC FUNCTION: Perform a variety of instructional and clerical duties to assist the Unit Head with Title I literacy, compliance, family engagement, and Pre‑K requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Meet with small groups of students daily to provide research‑based literacy interventions for a minimum of half the school day.
  • Collaborate with and learn from the principal, instructional coach, and interventionist about research‑based literacy interventions.
  • Compile information and maintain appropriate records, logs, and reports related to Title I literacy, compliance, family engagement, and Pre‑K.
  • Assist in planning and executing family engagement activities (including Title I required expectations) along with school and district staff designed to help parents and families build their capacity to support student learning and growth.
  • Assist in Pre‑K classrooms to cover lunch breaks and when Pre‑K staff is out of the classroom. Requires prior completion of CPR certification, national fingerprint background check, TB testing, and other learning modules.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from high school and one year of general clerical or school experience, or equivalent.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Strong office, computer, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Drug screen required.
  • Demonstrate highly‑qualified status by meeting at least one of the following criteria:
    • Two years of college experience from an accredited college.
    • Two‑year college degree from an accredited college.
    • Passed the Para‑Pro Assessment.
    • One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment in a school or working with children.
    • Completed 48 credit hours of college‑level classes from an accredited college.
    • Child Development Associate (CDA) credentials.
Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly required to speak and hear, have dexterity of hands and fingers, sit or stand for extended periods, push, pull, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally bend at the waist, kneel, or crouch. The employee must have close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The role may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
