Job summary

The Nature Conservancy is launching a pilot program to engage forest landowners in the Appalachians. The Landowner Outreach Specialist will lead implementation in western Maryland, building relationships with private landowners, increasing participation, and coordinating program benefits.

This 15-month fixed-term position emphasizes independent outreach, gathering insights on motivations and barriers, and informing future investment and program design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience in natural resource management or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relationship-building experience with partners such as media, government officials, and internal scientists.
  • Experience completing tasks independently concerning timeline(s).
  • Experience with written, spoken and graphical communication in English and other relevant languages.
  • Experience using Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.
  • Experience in training.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Vehicle Use Agreement may be required and background check completed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation of a pilot program in western Maryland by engaging forest landowners.
  • Enroll landowners in the program and coordinate delivery of program benefits.
  • Build relationships with private landowners and partner networks to increase participation.
  • Gather insights on landowner motivations and barriers to inform future investment and design.
