Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks two Continuous Forest Inventory Contractors to support a MassWildlife pilot. Role focuses on field data collection, forest composition, and structural metrics across WMAs, following new CFI protocols. Under Habitat Program supervision, you will establish plots, record data, use GPS/GIS tools, and help refine methods.

Starts Oct 1, 2026; ends June 25, 2027; 40 hours/week with hourly pay $30.71–$35.26 (incl. benefits).

Qualifications

• Must have Mass. Class D license and valid driving record.
• Experience in forest metrics and data collection per protocols.
• Ability to operate outdoors in remote terrain and variable weather.
• Knowledge of GPS, GIS, and field data recording procedures.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with a CFI pilot by collecting forest data at 50 sites.
• Establish monitoring plots, take measurements, and record data accurately.
• Use GPS and GIS tools to navigate and map field areas.
• Coordinate logistics for field operations and safety supplies.
• Prepare progress updates and support program evaluation.
