Description of Work
The North Carolina Forest Service (NCFS) is an emergency response division composed of professionals providing forest protection, resource management, and environmental education to North Carolina residents and landowners through various programs. NCFS services all 100 counties in North Carolina.
This position involves maintaining and operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, hauling units, and others used in wildland fire suppression, pre-suppression, prescribed burning, and forestation. Responsibilities include minor equipment repairs, assisting with major repairs, and possibly supporting educational and forest management activities. The role requires responding during emergencies like wildfires and natural disasters.

Official NCFS uniforms are provided. A 13-speed hauling unit driving evaluation and crawler proficiency evaluation will be conducted on the interview day.
Pre-employment mandatory drug testing is required.

Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and two years of heavy equipment operation experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also qualify.
Necessary Special Requirements:
