Job summary

The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute (NMBHI) in Las Vegas, NM, seeks a licensed social worker to support its Forensic Division. The role focuses on competency restoration for individuals referred by district courts, within an inpatient setting and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and coordination with courts and families. Licensing in social work is required; provisional licensure considered.

Qualifications

• Experience working within the mental health field.
• Experience in providing direct care services in an inpatient hospital setting, with interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Experience working with legal representatives (attorneys, judges).
• Experience conducting groups.
• Degree in Social Work (as per NMAC 61-31-9).
• Must be licensed per the Social Work Practice Act and related licenses; provisional licensure considered.

Responsibilities

• Attend admissions and complete psychosocial assessment.
• Develop initial and master treatment plans; participate in ongoing interventions.
• Coordinate and communicate with courts, attorneys, and families.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy with focus on Competency within the legal system.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage in crisis intervention and de-escalation support as needed.
• Coordinate discharge to detention centers and/or community; identify community resources.
• Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
