Job summary

The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services / Lakes Crossing Center in Sparks, NV is recruiting Forensic Specialist 1s. This trainee role blends security and mental health care to prepare offenders for competency and potential hearings.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of general work experience, one year in a mental health, medical, correctional or related setting.
• OR one year of college coursework in health, behavioral science or criminal justice and one year of general work experience.
• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Support clinical staff as a member of a treatment team and document client progress.
• Provide basic daily living support and assist with transportation as needed.
• Assist in group sessions and therapeutic activities under supervision.
• Prepare clients for competency hearings and explain legal processes.
• Maintain safety and security in the facility and perform security duties as assigned.
