Are you ready to make a difference by supporting patient care and treatment decisions as a Forensic Social Worker 1 with the Department of Human Services? This position gives you the opportunity to help patients at Norristown State Hospital move toward stability while working with legal and clinical partners. Your work will strengthen communication, improve treatment planning, and support safe transitions. Become part of a team that works with purpose, clarity, and dedication.

This position supports the Regional Forensic Psychiatric Center at Norristown State Hospital by coordinating case management, treatment planning, and communication for individuals on court-ordered mental health commitments. The role helps guide patients through evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning while ensuring collaboration with legal and community partners. As a Forensic Social Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Case Management: Coordinate communication with attorneys, courts, families, and community providers
• Assessment Work: Conduct psychosocial assessments and maintain accurate records in the Electronic Health Record
• Documentation Duties: Complete admission forms, update treatment plans, and ensure all required records meet standards
• Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and provide input for treatment and discharge decisions
• Discharge Support: Prepare discharge materials, notify security, and assist with aftercare arrangements
• Professional Conduct: Maintain boundaries, follow security procedures, and uphold all hospital policies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• A bachelor's or master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Legal Requirements:
