THE POSITION

Norristown State Hospital is seeking a dedicated Forensic Social Worker 1 to provide high-quality care to the people who call Norristown State Hospital home. In this role, you will help us continue to provide treatment for patients with severe and persistent mental illness. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Forensic Social Worker 1, you will be providing direct supervision to social work staff on assigned units in the forensic sections of Norristown State Hospital. In this position, you will ensure that services are provided efficiently within established time frames in accordance with all regulatory and professional standards. You will be responsible for completing Biopsychosocial Assessments. You can expect to participate in developing, coordinating, and facilitating treatment plans in conjunction with other clinical treatment team members. Additionally, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on services and reviews of reports, as well as assist with admissions and coordinate discharges on assigned units.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel may be required.
  • Free parking!
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in social work or social welfare.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
