Job summary

The State of Missouri, Department of Mental Health at Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center seeks Security Support Care Assistants to provide services as part of a nursing service team for mentally ill forensic clients in a high security setting. Candidates should show compassion and the ability to work in a trauma-informed, recovery-based environment.

Responsibilities include direct care, assisting with daily living activities, checking vital signs, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old to work in SORTS units.
• Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric population.
• Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, treatment, and/or security of forensic psychiatric and/or sex offender clients in high security areas.
• Assist clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.
• Check vital signs, height, and weight as assigned.
• Collect and maintain records of fluid intake and output.
• Report on the condition of clients.
• May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security-related functions in a mental health care setting.
