Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a Psychologist - Forensic Evaluator for the Office of Forensic Mental Health Services. You will conduct court-ordered evaluations, provide expert testimony, and collaborate with a statewide team to support forensic mental health within the justice system.

Role involves handling competency evaluations and mental state assessments, writing concise reports, and navigating civil/criminal hearings.

Qualifications

• Doctoral level qualification in psychology (PsyD or Ph.D.)
• Strong clinical skills in interviewing, diagnostic clarification, and report writing
• Experience in conducting competency to stand trial evaluations
• Knowledge and experience with psychometric testing, instruments for feigning/response validity, competency, and risk assessment measures
• Ability to write evidence-based, concise evaluations and provide expert testimony
• Ability to establish collegial relationships with internal and external partners

Responsibilities

• Complete forensic evaluations focused on competency to stand trial and related mental state evaluations.
• Collaborate with forensic evaluators across the state.
• Prepare for and provide expert witness testimony as requested or subpoenaed by the courts.
• Submit forensic evaluation reports to the court with analytic discussion and psycho-legal opinions.
