Job summary

The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute seeks a Psychiatric Technician to support patients in a hospital setting across divisions, assisting with daily living activities and communicating updates to the treatment team.

You will participate in crisis de-escalation, monitor patient safety, and help maintain a clean, comfortable environment. A high school diploma and valid NM driver’s license are required, with additional defensive driving certification expected.

Qualifications

• Experience Working With People Who Have Behavioral Health Diagnoses.
• Experience in assisting people with activities of daily living.
• Experience working in healthcare.
• Experience working in treatment teams.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist the patients with Activities of Daily Living, including cuing people to eat, shower, and attend activities.
• Assist in crisis situations and help de-escalate patients who may be symptomatic and agitated.
• Monitor all patients and ensure safety - including completing checks on all patients at identified intervals up to and including one-to-one.
• Provide feedback to the nursing staff and treatment team regarding symptoms observed.
• Ensure the environment is clean and comfortable for all patients.
