Job summary

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Coastal Regional Laboratory in Pooler, GA seeks an Associate Medical Examiner (Forensic Pathologist) to perform medicolegal autopsies and provide expert testimony. Facilities support advanced imaging and cross‑regional operations with offices in Pooler, Savannah and Macon.

Salary ranges between $260,000 and $280,000 plus a $50,000/yr locality pay when based in Pooler, GA, with eligibility for loan repayment and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Medical Doctor license to practice in Georgia or be eligible for licensure.
• Completion of Anatomic Pathology residency and Forensic Pathology fellowship is required.
• Board certification by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP, and Forensic Pathology certification or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Perform medicolegal autopsies under Georgia Death Investigation Act.
• Generate examination reports for dissemination in a timely manner.
• Provide expert courtroom and deposition testimony; consult with law enforcement and attorneys.
