Job summary

The City and County of Denver's Office of the Medical Examiner seeks an experienced Forensic Pathologist to lead clinical functions, perform medicolegal autopsies, and mentor fellows. You will review deaths, order tests, and provide expert testimony when required.

The role includes on-call duties and collaboration with law enforcement and medical agencies. Requires board certification, licensure in Colorado, and a commitment to education and public health.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Forensic Pathologist or similar municipality role.
• Mentoring/training Forensic Pathology Fellowship students.
• Passion for teaching and research in forensic pathology.
• Knowledge of forensic pathology quality assurance and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight and leadership in forensic pathology.
• Review deaths and determine examination type (autopsy/external/chart review).
• Perform medicolegal autopsies in accordance with standards.
• Order and interpret diagnostics; assess postmortem effects on results.
• Educate and mentor fellows, residents, and students.
