Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Manager - Forensics to oversee daily operations of the Forensic Firearm and Latent Print division. The role includes supervising staff, developing programs, and ensuring compliance with forensic standards and budgeting constraints.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in forensic science or related fields, 7 years of experience in crime scene investigation or analysis, and 3 years of supervisory/management experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or Natural Sciences, or related discipline.
• Seven (7) years of crime scene investigation/forensic analysis experience.
• Three (3) years of supervisory/management or forensic oversight experience.
• Master's degree (or higher) with required experience may meet education/experience.
• Current driver’s license; professional certs preferred (IAI/TFSC/AFTE).

Responsibilities

• Manages and oversees forensics activities, audits facilities, and ensures accurate lab reports.
• Analyzes performance trends and implements best practices for forensic quality assurance.
• Develops short- and long-range plans, budgets, and resources for the division.
• Supervises personnel, performs hiring, discipline, and performance appraisals.
• Ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and forensic standards.
• Participates in budget development and expense tracking.
• Maintains quality control and training programs; enforces laws and guidelines.
• Responds to crime scenes and handles evidence transportation as needed.
