DC Department of Human Resources seeks a Medical Technologist to support the Molecular Diagnostic Unit within the Department of Forensic Sciences. The successful candidate will perform and oversee laboratory analyses of human samples, ensuring accuracy, quality, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include specimen handling, data interpretation, instrument maintenance, and participation in proficiency testing, with a focus on unbiased science and transparency in support of public safety

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s or graduate/higher degree in biological sciences, chemistry, and mathematics.
• NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program or equivalent.
• Four-year program including 12 months in a medical technology setting or school approved by a recognized accrediting body.

Aufgaben

• Perform complex analyses in microbiology, immunology, virology, biology, hematology and chemistry.
• Prepare clinical specimens from throat, urine, wounds, eyes, stool, etc., for microbiological analyses.
• Establish and monitor quality control systems; ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory requirements.
• Operate, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on clinical instruments; ensure data accuracy.
• Participate in proficiency testing and maintain records for daily statistics and reporting.
