Job summary

Qualifications

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or a related science.
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Forensic Scientist 12 or State Police Specialist (Sergeant) or State Police Sergeant 12 in the MSP.
• For Latent Prints/Questioned Documents, substitution allowances exist as stated in the job spec.
• Pre-employment screening including drug screen and background/fingerprint checks are required.
• Unofficial transcripts will not be accepted; resume, cover letter/memo, and transcripts must be attached.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical compliance with unit policies for scientists, examiners, and technicians.
• Serve as liaison between the technical leader and Laboratory Director.
• Manage cases within the assigned unit and assist as acting Laboratory Director when needed.
• Ensure staff training until competency is reached in the assigned discipline.
• Maintain bias-free work practices in all duties.
