The Michigan State Police's Marquette Forensic Laboratory is seeking one Laboratory Manager to oversee the Biology, Latent Prints, or Seized Drugs units. The selected candidate will ensure technical compliance with unit policies and act as liaison between the technical leader and the Laboratory Director.

The role emphasizes case management, training to competency, and bias-free operations; depending on staffing, the Manager may serve as acting Laboratory Director.

Qualifications

• Possession of a bachelor's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or a related science is required.
• Two years of experience equivalent to a Forensic Scientist 12 or State Police Sergeant 12 in MSP is required.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background check and fingerprint checks.
• Unofficial transcripts are not accepted; resume and cover letter/memo must be attached.
• A valid Michigan driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure technical compliance with unit policies for Seized Drugs, Biology/DNA, or Latent Prints units.
• Serve as liaison between the technical leader and the Laboratory Director and manage cases.
• Provide training to achieve competency in discipline-specific areas and ensure bias-free work.
• May act as Laboratory Director in the absence of the Laboratory Director.
