Job summary

ATF in Maryland is seeking a Forensic Auditor (GS-0511-12) within the Financial Investigative Services Division to conduct comprehensive financial investigations supporting criminal cases. You will advise investigators and prosecutors, plan complex audits, and prepare detailed reports and exhibits.

The role requires experience in forensic accounting, strong analytical skills, and the ability to present findings clearly to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting or auditing, including 24 semester hours in accounting (may include up to 6 hours of business law)
• Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of accounting/auditing experience with professional coursework or certifications
• CPA or CIA certification obtainable through written examination or equivalent credential

Responsibilities

• Provides advice and assistance to ATF agents and prosecutors on financial findings
• Plans and conducts financial investigations of individuals or entities suspected of criminal schemes
• Prepares reports, exhibits, and charts summarizing findings for end users
• Researches databases and analyzes financial records to generate investigative leads
• Provides formal and informal training in financial investigative techniques and auditing

Education
