Job summary

City of Canton, Ohio seeks a skilled technical support specialist for the Crime Laboratory. You will handle receiving, storage, and disposition of physical evidence, maintaining chain of custody and securing confidential information.

You may testify in court about duties and findings as needed. Responsibilities include data entry, lab record keeping, and coordinating with internal staff and outside agencies, under the Crime Laboratory Director's supervision.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in a forensic lab or law enforcement support role, or an associate degree substitute.
• Able to identify, collect, preserve, and process evidence per policy.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive, package, store, and dispose of physical evidence per protocols.
• Maintain chain of custody and secure handling of confidential information.
• Prepare laboratory documents and distribute reports to agencies.
• Testify in court regarding evidence and findings when required.
