The Role

We are hiring a Forensic Engineer/Structural Professional Engineer for our Miami, FL location, responsible for forensic investigations and expert witness testimony. Relocation assistance may be provided. Canadian applicants may apply.

Summary

The engineer will lead forensic investigations, prepare reports, and provide expert testimony on building components, ensuring project delivery within scope, budget, and timeline.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an expert witness in depositions, mediations, and litigation.
  • Perform and coordinate forensic inspections, assessing project conditions and identifying issues.
  • Generate detailed field reports from site visits.
  • Review drawings, codes, specifications, and project manuals.
  • Create expert reports with analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Interpret testing results, supervise testing activities, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Peer review technical data from internal and third-party sources.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout project phases.
  • Perform design, calculations, and develop drawings.
  • Review and develop technical specifications and documents.
Additional Functions
  • Coordinate project meetings and manage communication.
  • Verify schedules and ensure adherence to plans.
  • Conduct site inspections and document conditions.
  • Record measurements and perform calculations.
  • Maintain professional client and contractor communication.
  • Review investigation reports and bid documents.
  • Report project status and resolve issues proactively.
  • Maintain organized project records.
  • Gather post-project feedback for improvements.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and participate in professional activities.
  • Represent the firm at events and seek marketing opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Client Relations
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants.
  • Represent the firm in mediations and provide expert opinions.
  • Engage with clients to understand and meet project goals.
Internal Team
  • Work with the team to define scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications
Education

Bachelor’s in Structural/Civil Engineering.

Work Experience

Over 4 years in the industry, with experience as an expert witness.

Licenses & Certifications
  • PE license required.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
Skills
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar software.
  • Ability to travel and work in the field.
Physical Demands
  • Lifting up to 40 lbs.
