Job summary

Muller, Inc. is seeking a Utility Foreman to lead field crews on job-site projects in the Virginia area. The role reports to Superintendents & Project Managers and follows a Monday–Friday schedule.

Duties include trench excavation, trench box installation, and ensuring safety and quality control on underground utility work. The position requires experience with wet utilities, operating large excavators, and working in confined spaces.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to communicate directly with clients.
  • 1 year of experience or more with wet utility.
  • Must be able to operate large excavators with precision.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to access secured facilities.
  • High attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Excavates trenches for water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer.
  • Installs trench boxes as necessary.
  • Operates equipment in compliance with Muller's safety policies and OSHA procedures.
  • Ensure proper excavation & compaction procedures are performed.
  • Ensures all equipment is maintained by performing daily equipment inspections & grease equipment at required intervals.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of underground utilities.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required to complete the job.
  • Manage quality control and production.
  • Train team members as needed in a hands-on manner.

Physical Requirements
  • Employee must be physically fit to perform duties of the job in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Regularly required to sit and stand, must be able to use hands to fingers, handle or feel and verbally communicate and listen.
  • Other physical requirements include walking, climbing, balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending or crawling.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the position include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
