Job summary

Good Shepherd Fence Company in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Fence Installation Foreman to lead daily on-site activities, coordinate crews, and ensure safety and quality across fence projects. Reading plans, solving on-site issues, and maintaining schedule are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Site Supervisor/Foreman or in a leadership role.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret bids.
• Regularly able to move 75+ lbs unassisted.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• CPR and basic first aid certifications preferred.

Job Description

Good Shepherd Fence Company is looking for a talented and self-starting Fence Installation Foreman to take the lead on fence construction projects, holding daily meetings with employees - reminding them of safety protocols and resolving problems and conflicts as they may arise. Pay is depending on experience. They coordinate with other crew supervisors to ensure progress is happening on schedule. You need organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills for success in this position. A good Site Supervisor candidate is a reliable, hard-working person with a background in the trades. He or she should be able to read and interpret plans, as well as practice active listening and stress management. They should also ensure that sites are free from waste before you leave.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, adjusting as necessary due to weather, supply delivery, and personnel.
• Verify that all parts, materials and tools needed for project installation are loaded on the truck prior to going to the assigned job site.
• Highly experienced in fence installation and repairs of all types (chain link, wood, ornamental, PVC, temporary, gates, etc.)
• Make decisions on how to conduct the installation of the project including where to install the terminations based on boundaries.
• Measure and lay out fence lines and mark posthole positions, following instructions, shop drawings, blueprints or specifications.
• Assist in recruiting, mentoring, managing, and training employees.
• Ability to delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.
• Emphasis on the safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment including training on safety gear, helmets, and procedures.
• Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.
• Report project status to supervisors, site engineers and officials regularly.
• Able to read blueprints and/or contracts.
• Ability to work in high-stress conditions and quickly changing environments.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
• Lead others by example.

Skills & Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver's license
• Prior fence building, construction, or carpentry experience preferred.
• Proven experience working as a Site Supervisor, Foreman, Team Lead, or people leadership role.
• Working knowledge of power tools, construction tools, and equipment.
• The ability to interpret job bids and determine necessary: tools, supplies, and equipment needed.
• Regularly required to move around, use hands, use feet to walk, stand for long periods of time, and push/pull/lift/move up to 75+ pounds unassisted.
• Outstanding leadership skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Preferred CPR and basic first aid certifications.

We have looked for a quality fence company at a reasonable price for the past few years. LOOK NO FURTHER! Good Shepherd Fence was fantastic in every possible sense from start to finish. From Sean and our options and estimate to the communication up and through installation was terrific. The price was the most reasonable of all aspects and estimates from others.and we were a bit worried. Not now. Malik was outstanding onsite as was the entire installation team. They were friendly, kind, not bothered by my questions and prompts. Yard was cleaner at conclusion and even removed trash not related to the install. It is hard to find quality, service at a cost that is reasonable today. Well we just did and it was such a good experience. I had an amazing experience with the whole team. From the first time I reached out to I sent inquires to multiple companies. They were the first response and got me exactly what I was looking for within just a few conversations. Jason who was the salesperson / manager. Came to the house and walked through with my wife while FaceTiming me at work. Today was install day and Daniel the foreman was great. Showed up on time and walked through to verify the plans of the fence. Him and his crew got straight to work and had the fence up and completed by around 2 PM. Daniel and the crew were excellent. Good Shepherd has been excellent from the start--from quote to finish! Even while finishing (and even though it meant not finishing until the next morning), the workers stopped short, realizing the last several boards didn't match. Instead of installing the wrong ones, they did the right thing! Unlike most companies, they adhered to their quote and finished our new redwood, beautiful fence! Good Shepherd Fence Company built a beautiful, high quality black coated chain-link fence for my mom’s backyard. They were exceptional to work with from the first phone call I made to the completion of the project. Mitch Bozarth was the project manager. He is highly responsive and punctual. He helped me quickly obtain all I needed for HOA approval and construction permit. Mark did the installation. He let me know when he was on the way, when the project was completed, and sent photos.
