The Foreman is responsible for ensuring that everything goes smoothly at a construction site. They are the point of contact between the laborers and superintendent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are followed at all sites at all times.
  2. Develop work schedules in accordance with the availability of employees, contractors, and labor laws, and monitor personnel.
  3. Report project status to superiors, site engineers, and officials regularly.
  4. Act as the liaison between track laborers and superintendents.
  5. Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may occur on-site quickly and amicably.
  6. Delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew and contractors.

Job Requirements:

  1. Must be 18 years of age or older.
  2. Previous experience as a construction superintendent in the heavy civil industry.
  3. Knowledge of local quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction job sites.
  4. Must have a great attitude and the ability to motivate team members on-site.
  5. In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
  6. Understanding of the use and maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems.
  7. Ability to communicate and report effectively.
  8. Accountability and integrity are essential, as the decisions made in this role affect countless others.
  9. Willing to work in all weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.).
  10. Recognize, avoid, and report potential hazards.
  11. Must pass all required assessments/trainings.
  12. Willing and able to travel to various job sites, including those that require overnight stays and those that require short notice mobilization.
  13. Available to work full-time (40 hrs/wk.), subject to overtime, on-call (24/7), alternating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  14. American Track is a drug-free company; employees are subject to pre-employment and random drug tests.
  15. High school diploma or certification in a skilled trade is a plus.
  16. Fluent in English; Spanish is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
