Job summary

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, seeks a Foreman in Traverse City, MI to supervise crews performing line clearance and tree trimming for major electric utilities. You will direct crew members and equipment, plan work, and ensure safe, efficient execution of tasks on site.

The role requires a valid driver’s license and relevant certifications; CDL preferred but not mandatory, with opportunities for training and advancement within a respected nationwide

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Line clearance certification required for near-utility work.
• CDL preferred but not required; licensure may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Supervise crew and perform line clearance and tree trimming for major electric utilities.
• Prune treetops, trim or remove damaged trees, and remove broken limbs from wires, roofs, and other objects.
• Direct crew members and equipment; plan and execute assigned work and tasks.
• Oversee proper maintenance and operation of tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Work as part of a crew with Groundmen and Trimmer/Climber; perform all listed functions as needed.

Job Duties

• Provides crew supervision and line clearing and tree trimming services for major electric utility providers
• Services provided include pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal as well as removing broken limbs from wires, roofs, and other objects
• Directs crew members and equipment as well as planning and executing the assigned work and tasks
• Responsible to supervise and assist in the proper maintenance, preparation and operation of all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts
• Operates as part of a crew with supporting Groundmen and Trimmer/Climber
• Ability to perform all above mentioned functions

• Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license preferred but not required
• Certificates and Licenses if necessary
• Line clearance certification if working near utility transmission lines
