Job summary

Barnard Construction Company, Inc. seeks an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic Foreman for our Hachita, NM site to lead maintenance and repairs for the heavy equipment fleet. You will supervise mechanics and ensure uptime on demanding projects across North America.

Ideal candidates bring strong diesel, hydraulic, electrical troubleshooting skills, hands-on leadership, and the ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced construction environment. Occasional travel may be required.

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic Foreman to join our team at our Hachita, New Mexico site.

Qualifications

• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and daily operations of our heavy equipment maintenance team.
• Responsible for keeping construction equipment safe, reliable, and operating efficiently while providing hands-on mechanical support and leadership to other mechanics.
• The ideal candidate will have strong experience troubleshooting and repairing heavy construction equipment, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to prioritize repairs in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Experience with diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems.
• Must own service truck (not required) and tools applicable to the position
• Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to inspect heavy equipment and identify defects and performance issues both in the field and in the shop.
• Maintenance and repairs of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and diesel systems on a variety of construction equipment and tools.
• Perform required visual inspections, diagnostics and preventative maintenance on a variety of construction equipment.
• Fabricate parts when needed.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Barnard’s safety culture and policies.
• Valid driver license and satisfactory driving record.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate progress and crew needs to the project management team.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
