Job Description for Directional Drilling Technician

We are seeking a skilled Directional Drilling Technician with knowledge of established buried/bore cable installation procedures and techniques. The candidate should be familiar with a wide range of tools and equipment, and able to read and understand work orders, safety rules, and operating instructions.

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of directional drilling operations
  • Proficiency with drilling equipment, understanding its capabilities and limitations
  • Experience with drill setup and design processes
  • Ability to develop and maintain a bore schedule
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong safety consciousness; involved in site Job Safety Analysis (JSA) prior to construction
  • Proficient use of locators to identify utilities safely
  • Operate directional drills safely on-site
  • Restore and landscape disturbed areas of the jobsite
  • Demonstrate job skills, procedures, and techniques to crew members
  • Responsible for site setup and cleanup

Qualifications:

  • Strong technical knowledge of directional drilling operations
  • Minimum of 5 years of directional drilling experience
  • Valid Driver's license required; Class A CDL preferred
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly
  • Ability to meet deadlines under stressful conditions
  • Highly organized with multitasking ability
  • Accurate measurement skills using tapes or other devices
