Job summary

The Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2-5 person crew in pruning and removal for major electric utilities. The role is outdoors, with an on-site work environment in Ruidoso, NM and travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Preferred: CDL Class A or B (no air brake restriction); pesticide licenses if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for major electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops, trim or remove damaged trees.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Perform job-site inspections and plan/execute tasks.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Mentor and train new employees.
• Growth opportunities depend on performance.

Job Duties

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree workRequired: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
