Job summary

Bilfinger Inc. is seeking a Foreman to supervise workers involved in fabricating, installing and maintaining piping and equipment for industrial systems in the United States. You will assign tasks, inspect work, and train new staff to ensure safety and quality on job sites.

The role requires ability to read safety rules, write reports, and communicate in English with confidence. A TWIC card and the ability to pass required training and hair follicle tests are required.

Qualifications

  • Must be physically capable of exerting required force levels during tasks.
  • Must read safety rules, shop tools instructions, and mechanical drawing methods.
  • Must write reports and letters with correct format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Must speak English clearly before an audience with poise and confidence.
  • Experience of 4–10 years of job training for related work.
  • Must have a TWIC card.
  • Must pass required training and hair follicle test.
  • This site does not offer per diem.

Job description

FOREMAN
Primary Purpose

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping, fixtures, and equipment for gas, steam, hot water, fire sprinkler system, or oil heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems.

Typical Duties
  • Assigns workers to specific duties.
  • Inspects completed processing systems to determine conformance to specifications.
  • Trains new workers in use of equipment and tools.
  • Performs duties as described under Supervisor.
  • May supervise workers engaged in high‑pressure systems and may be designated Steam‑Fitter Supervisor.
  • May supervise workers engaged in maintenance and repair work.
Requirements
  • Physically capable of exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical activity requirements are more than those for Light Work.
  • Intellectually capable of applying and interpreting principles of rational systems (bookkeeping, engines, electronics, building), solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; must be competent in beginning algebra, geometry, and skillful in computation of discount, interest, profit, loss, commission, markup, selling price, ratio, proportion, and percentage.
  • Must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
  • Must be able to write reports and letters with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Must be able to speak, using correct English before an audience with poise, voice control, and confidence.
  • Experience of 4 to 10 years of specific job training required to learn the techniques, information, and facility needed for average performance in this position.
  • Must have a TWIC card.
  • Must be able to pass required training and hair follicle test.
