Job summary

Ford Racing in Allen Park, MI is seeking a Body Exterior Engineer to lead design, release, and delivery of exterior components for high-performance programs. You will manage QCWFT, coordinate sourcing, and drive program milestones with suppliers and teams.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 2+ years in exterior design/release, CAD skills, and strong GPDS knowledge. Passion for performance vehicles is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• 2+ years in Body Exterior Design & Release, incl. delivery of a completed program.
• Body Structures, closures, or Exterior D&R experience may be considered.
• 2 years using CAD and visualization tools.
• Understanding of GPDS program delivery processes.
• Working knowledge of Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, CATIA, DFMEA, FEDE, FEDEBOM, WERS.
• Fabrication/mockup skills to demonstrate proof of concept.
• Self-starter who links analytics with hardware and vehicle performance.
• Passion for performance vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, release, and delivery of Body Exterior components for Ford Performance.
• Manage QCWFT to support GPDS milestones; work with Purchasing to source commodities.
• Lead program delivery through various milestones; coordinate with internal/external resources.
• Ensure conformance to Ford Performance DNA and regulatory requirements.
• Develop innovative solutions for performance vehicles via design, CAE, and testing.
• Support issue resolution and design changes during prototype and launch builds.
• Interface with Core Body Exterior Engineering and support production/quality efforts.
• Support cost optimization efforts; Ford Racing program delivery and off-road variants.

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Body Exterior Engineer to join our Body Exterior Engineering team.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design, release, and delivery of Body Exterior components and systems for Ford Performance
• Manage Quality, Cost, Weight, Function and Timing (QCWFT) to support program & engineering GPDS milestones
• Work with Purchasing to source commodities
• Lead program delivery through various milestones
• Lead FSS (Full Service Suppliers) and/or other internal/external resources to deliver subject programs
• Assure conformance to the Ford Performance DNA all applicable Ford & regulatory requirements
• Develop innovative solutions for performance vehicles - including design, CAE analysis, and testing
• Support issue resolution and design change management during the prototype build and launch builds
• Interface and maintain collaborative relationship with Core Body Exterior Engineering Organization
• Support current production and quality efforts
• Support cost optimization efforts

You’ll have

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/equivalent Engineering required
• 2+ Years of experience in Body Exterior Design & Release, including delivery of 1 completed program
• Body Structures, closures, or Exterior D&R experience may also be considered
• 2 Years of experience using CAD and/or other visualization tools
• Understanding of program delivery processes / GPDS
• Working knowledge of Teamcenter, Vis Mockup, CATIA, DFMEA, FEDE, FEDEBOM, WERS
• Fabrication/mockup skills to demonstrate proof of concept
• Independent self-starter that can connect analytical tools with physical hardware and vehicle performance
• Passion for performance vehicles

• Experience with SMC design & industrialization
• MSME preferred
• Launch experience preferred
