Job summary

Ford Racing is seeking an NVH CAE Engineer to drive full-vehicle simulation from model build to issue resolution for high-performance cars and trucks. You will act as the primary simulation contact on programs, coordinating with attribute and functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates bring a mechanical engineering background, NVH fundamentals, and strong proficiency with CAE tools (Nastran, HyperWorks, ANSA) and scripting (MATLAB/Python).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; NVH and CAE fundamentals required.
• Proficiency with Nastran/HyperWorks/ANSA for vehicle system performance analysis.
• Experience with MATLAB and/or Python scripting for data processing and automation.

Responsibilities

• Complete analytical assessments of NVH and secondary ride attributes using CAE tools to identify root causes and define solutions.
• Plan, build, and maintain full-vehicle CAE models through development and test phases.
• Lead model-correlation activities, including test-to-CAE correlations for prototypes.
• Source CAD/meshed model data from internal teams and suppliers.
• Lead physical testing activities including on-road correlation and vibration data collection.
• Deliver analytical sign-off across key NVH attributes and support design decisions.
• Develop data-management and automation toolsets for the NVH team.

In this position...

As a Ford Racing NVH CAE Engineer, you will play a key role in developing some of the industry's most capable and exciting high-performance cars and trucks. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, proactive engineer who can lead the full vehicle simulation process-from model build and analysis through issue resolution. The successful candidate will bring strong organization, collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills while partnering closely with attribute and functional engineering teams in a fast-paced development environment.

This is a full-time, on-site position based at the Ford Racing offices in Allen Park, MI.

What you will do...

• Complete analytical assessments of NVH and Secondary Ride attributes at each program milestone, using CAE, simulators, and diagnostic tools to identify root causes, define solutions, and close gaps to target.
• Plan, build, and maintain full-vehicle CAE models throughout development and test phases.
• Lead all model-correlation activities, including test-to-CAE correlation for prototype and system-level builds (UNV0, TDC/TPV, DCV).
• Source CAD and meshed model data from internal teams and full-service suppliers.
• Lead physical testing activities, including mount/bushing characterization, on-road correlation and validation, and input-load data collection (spindle, mount, powertrain torsional vibration).
• Deliver analytical sign-off across key NVH attributes (Idle, Driveline Imbalance, Lugging, Road Noise/Boom, Rough Road Shake, 4 Poster Shake, Tire Wheel Imbalance Sensitivity, Modal Analysis).
• Serve as the simulation point person for assigned programs, communicating attribute status, issues, and workplans; help set pre-program targets and support design/tuning freeze decisions.
• Complete and document analytical DVP requirements and support powertrain sound-quality model development.
• Develop data-management and automation toolsets to support the NVH engineering team.

You'll have...

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Demonstrated proficiency using Nastran, HyperWorks, ANSA, or similar tools to assess vehicle system performance and support problem solving.
• Ability to use MATLAB and/or Python scripting for data processing and automation.
• Strong understanding of NVH fundamentals and systems, including source-path-receiver principles and modal analysis.
• Proven performance record, strong communication skills, and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strong work ethic, schedule flexibility, and passion for performance vehicles and racing.

Even better, if you have...

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools, such as LMS, B&K, DET, PT Diag, CANalyzer, or similar systems.
• 5+ years of experience in vehicle or systems NVH development, or equivalent vehicle engineering attribute experience such as vehicle dynamics or VEME.
• 5+ years of experience applying CAE and simulation tools or methods in NVH system or vehicle development.
• Experience with Catia, 3DX, or similar toolsets.
• Experience in powertrain, body structures, chassis systems, and/or vehicle architecture development.
