Job summary

DÔEN is seeking a Footwear & Accessories Design Intern in Van Nuys, CA. This on-site, part-time role supports the design team and offers a paid internship at $18.50 per hour.

You will assist in creating presentations, organizing samples, and researching seasonal concepts under the direction of the VP Design Director. Ideal candidates have CAD and Adobe Creative Suite skills, strong planning and communication abilities, and an interest in fashion with a vintage focus.

Responsibilities

• Support the Footwear and Accessories Team under VP Design Director.
• Assist in creating and preparing design presentation boards weekly and seasonally.
• Help organize samples and maintain reference archives.
• Contribute to research for seasonal concepts, materials, trims, and color.
• Assist in embroidery layouts, detail sketches, and cross-functional communication.
• Document, photograph, and update sample library charts.
• Build collaborative relationships across Development Teams.

Description of Duties

Title:

Footwear & Accessories Design Intern

Classification:

Salary*:

$18.50/hr

Schedule:

Part-Time, On Site, Monday-Thursday (occasional Friday)

Location:

Van Nuys, CA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports Footwear and Accessories Team in all functions, under the direction of the VP Design Director
• Assist in creating & preparing Design presentation boards and decks weekly and seasonally
• Assists team with organization of samples
• Assists team with building and maintaining the reference archive
• Assist team in admin like naming and numbering styles, colors and artwork
• Assist team in research for seasonal concept development, materials, trims & color
• Assist team in creating embroidery layouts and special detail call outs and communicating them cross-functionally
• Assist in taking photos and notes in fittings
• Assist team in creating construction detail sketches when necessary
• Assists team in executing sketch updates when necessary
• Assist team in photographing samples and updating the sample library chart
• Assists team in maintaining cross-functional Design documents
• Builds Collaborative relationships cross-functionally with Development Teams and beyond
• Other projects as assigned to support the needs of the team

Skills and Abilities:

• Experience working in CAD, Microsoft Office
• Strong illustrator and photoshop (adobe creative suite)
• Strong planning and organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Broad knowledge of fashion with a focus on vintage
• Some knowledge of accessories
• A high level of ownership, accountability and initiative
• Ability to prioritize competing projects and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Action oriented and results driven

Minimum Requirements

• Must be able to be in office a minimum of 4 days a week; full schedule to be determined with supervisors.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodation
• Periods sitting at a desk, typing, sketching and working on a computer
• Able to lift/move/push/pull objects up to 25 lbs
• Able to walk, sit and stand for periods of time
• Able to operate equipment such as computers, copy machines, phones
• Must be able to access various areas of a given location
