Job summary

Pleasantville Public Schools is seeking an Athletic Coach at Pleasantville High School to lead the sports program, develop athletes’ skills, sportsmanship, and motivation within a structured environment.

The role requires a valid New Jersey instructional certificate or eligibility, and a strong ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Responsibilities include coordinating practices, ensuring safety, and managing equipment and records.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate or eligibility or County Substitute Certificate.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport, training and conditioning, injury prevention and development.
• Ability to maintain a positive learning environment and high standards of conduct for athletes.
• Have the ability to read and write.
• Be in good physical health and perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for success in the sport involved.
• Assumes responsibility for team members under supervision; promotes good sportsmanship and enforces rules.
• Complies with board emergency medical procedures for all practices and contests.
• Selects team members and verifies eligibility according to physical and academic requirements.
• Plans and schedules regular practice in season and attends all contests.
• Oversees safety conditions of the facility where the sport is conducted.
• Assists in equipment management and distribution for practice and contests.
• Assists athletic director in arranging competitions and transportation.
