Job summary

Geisinger Food Service Workers perform a variety of tasks in the clinical dining area, including food preparation, packaging, and deliveries. They clean and sanitize food service areas and take temperatures of foods and storage areas to ensure safety and compliance.

Additional duties include placing trays, weighing ingredients, and reading patient meal tickets. This is a Flex position (per diem, hours as needed) with hours varying by department staffing; prior food handling experience is

Responsibilities

• Perform food preparation, packaging, and deliveries as assigned.
• Clean and sanitize food service areas as required by management and regulatory agencies.
• Takes and records temperatures of food and storage areas (refrigerators/freezers).
• Place food trays over warmers or store in refrigerated storage cabinets.
• Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in appropriate storage areas.
• Read and interpret patient meal tickets, identifiers, recipes, ingredients, labels and dating.

Job description

• Foodservice Workers will be assigned to perform various tasks within the foodservice area.
• This may include but is not limited to food preparation, packaging, and deliveries.
• Cleans and sanitizes any and all food service areas as required by management and regulatory agencies.
• Takes and records temperature of food and food storage areas, such as refrigerators and freezers.
• Places food trays over food warmers for immediate service or stores them in refrigerated storage cabinets.
• Weighs or measures ingredients.
• Receives and stores food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
• May handle cash depending on needs.

• Read and interpret patient meal tickets, read and confirm patient identifiers, recipes, ingredients, labels and dating.
